Deborah Pope
is a columnist and
freelance writer. A stay-at-home mom, her creation – the Here A
Mom, There A Momsm
column – offers perspective on the dual and divergent lives moms face
today.
In HAMTAM,
Deborah and a working mom address the same topics in a side-by-side
format. In 2007, the HAMTAM column appeared in Kansas City Parent.
In early 2006, a Chicago based television personality featured the
column in her e-Newsletter. Throughout 2006, HAMTAM also appeared in
other online newsletters, as well as in the print publication
Diddly News. Throughout 2005, the column ran monthly in
DallasChild magazine. HAMTAM has also been published in two Los
Angeles based community newspapers – Studio City Sun and
Sherman Oaks Sun.
Deborah’s most
recent freelance work has included features in Richardson Living
magazine and essays in Kansas City Parent and the national
publication Adoptive Families.
After graduating
from Michigan State University, Deborah taught high school journalism in
Texas. She lived in Japan for a year teaching English to children and
adults, and today she continues to teach Japanese students in her home
on a limited basis.
While working in
programming at KLUV-FM Radio in Dallas, Texas, she wrote
promotional copy and was a voice talent on both promos and commercials.
Deborah, her
husband, their nine-year-old daughter, and dog reside in a suburb of
Dallas, Texas.
